Raoul Fraser is the Director, Founder, and co-owner of Alfburn Renewable Energy Advisors. Raoul thought up the idea for Alfburn after completing a small hydro scheme in Scotland. He found that when the returns were stacked against the risks, the project turned out to be very attractive – for the environment and for himself. Shortly there after, Raoul approached a fellow entrepreneur and together they decided to start up individual SPV’s to reflect each unique project they took on.

Raoul Fraser is extremely passionate about making a significant impact on climate change. He understands the severity of the situation and wants to help the world move away from fossil fuels, instead of moving towards more sustainable technologies. With that being said, Raoul finds the future of renewables to be extremely exciting and for good reason. He’s seen first hand, the overall cost has reached a more affordable level, renewable technology is easier to obtain, and renewables are increasingly more efficient. Based off of all these factors, Raoul Fraser firmly believes we are on the cusp of grid parity – particularly with the help of wind and solar power.

Currently, Raoul Fraser is developing his 7th solar site to date. He has been actively involved in over 85MW of operational solar in the UK in the past few years. In addition, Raoul co-owns a few single wind turbines and by August of next year, he will be a co-owner of two hydro schemes in Scotland. Raoul firmly believes these projects are very attractive as investments not only because they have a guaranteed subsidy which is inflation linked but also they have stable revenues with low maintenance costs. I would encourage all people to attempt their own projects particularly as subsidies remain.

The renewable energy sector has been the perfect area for Raoul Fraser to combine his passions for sustainability and investing. Fraser has been investing in financial markets since he was just 14 years old. He has worked at the highest levels of wealth management for over a decade, co-running one of the largest teams in Europe. All of this prior experience has set him up for success in the renewable sector.
