About Alfburn

Alfburn Renewable Energy Advisors was founded in 2014, by Raoul Fraser, in order to develop renewable energy projects in the UK. Alfburn’s project’s span across a wide range of cutting edge technologies including hydro-electric, wind, and solar. Alfburn came to life after he had finished a small hydro scheme in Scotland. Raoul wanted a place for developers to turn when looking for equity partners and advisors.

When it comes to the success of Alburn Renewable Energy Solutions, goverment policies have played an important role. Raoul admits, despite the criticism thrust at the UK governement, their advocacy for investment in renewables through subsidies was vital to the explosive growth of renewables. Raoul Fraser does recognize the subsidies were too high to begin with, but without them it’s doubtful much progress, if any, would have been made. Unlike Southern Europe, the UK government has kept a handle on the scale of the industry and increased positive, sustainable growth because of it.

As for the future of Alfburn, it’s sure to be bright. Raoul Fraser recently took on a director’s role for a number of renewable projects in the United Kingdom – encompassing both solar and hydro energy. On the solar side, he’s helped manage the construction of the 3rd largest solar site in the UK at RAF Coltishall. This 52MW site was connected under both ROC 1.4 in March 2015 and ROC 1.3 in March 2016. In addition, he has helped with the construction of a further 5 sites which were all commissioned under ROC 1.3.
